West Brom vs Leeds United
England – Premier League
Date: Tuesday, 29 December 2020
Kick-off at 18:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: The Hawthorns.
The Baggies are easily amongst the worst in the whole competition, and no other team has conceded more goals than them so far in the league. They are also placed 19th in the table, and they are also a newly promoted squad.
They have a total of one win all through this campaign, and it had come against the 20th placed Sheffield United – by far the worst team in the PL in 2020-21.
Suffice it to say they are one of the major contenders to get relegated at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the Whites are still one of the most impressive teams in the English top flight, despite struggling to keep up their earlier levels. They had begun their campaign on a terrific note, and since then have found life tough against some of the best in the league.
However, Sam Allardyce’s men are not one of those squads. The desperate Marcelo Bielsa’s men will give their 100% on the pitch, and have a good chance to secure the much-needed three points this Tuesday.
West Brom vs Leeds: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The latest encounter had ended in a 1-1 draw. The game had taken place in January of 2020.
- Before that, the Whites were on a two-game winning run, and one of those victories had a 4-0 scorecard.
- Since 1989, not once have the hosts kept a clean sheet at this stadium.
- In fact, both teams found the back of the net in every single clash at this ground in the past three decades.
West Brom vs Leeds: Prediction
The Baggies were held to a 1-1 draw the last match-day on the road, by Liverpool. In the meantime, Bielsa’s men posted a 1-0 win at home against Burnley.
Going on, Allardyce’s men were winless in 20 of their previous 22 overall match-ups, and the two wins during this stretch had come against the 20th placed Sheffield United, and Harrogate – a team from the lower divisions.
On the other hand, the Whites were unbeaten in four of their past seven overall fixtures, and one of these were a compelling 5-2 win against Newcastle.
They had also won eight of their former thirteen road trips, and of their total five losses during this stretch – three had come against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
On top of that, Bielsa’s men also have a good h2h record against this rival in the past few years as well.
As such, expect the determined Leeds to secure a win against the struggling West Brom. In addition, count on the former to score at least twice against the worst defense in the league as well.
