This is a big fixture in the Premier League as the champions Manchester City will open their account at Tottenham who have blown hot and cold over the past couple of seasons.
But the major talk has been about Tottenham and England captain Harry Kane. Kane wants to leave the club and join Manchester City but he has a contract to honour
City have offered Tottenham £150m but as we head into the weekend a deal still has not been finalised. It means that Kane could play for Tottenham but end up at City by the end of the month.
This is a hard fixture for Tottenham to begin their season with, but they are at home and will have their fans behind them.
However, with Kane expressing his desire to leave the club maybe the fans will be angered by this.
Tottenham also have a new manager in the form of Nuno Espirito Santo who left Wolves last season.
Manchester City’s eye-catching transfer so far was to buy Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for £100m. Grealish is being tipped to be one of the finest players for England and he will certainly add quality to City’s side.
However, the champions have let Sergio Aguero join Barcelona and may feel they are a little light up front.
City are the favourites to win the league again and they still look to have the best team on paper with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne pulling the strings and scoring the goals and City will be the favourites here to claim all 3 points.
Tottenham vs Manchester City Head-to-Head
- Last season Tottenham won this fixture 2-0.
- The last time the two teams played was in the Carabao Cup final which Manchester City won 1-0.
- There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Tottenham vs Manchester City Prediction
Manchester City are odds on to win but actually at 8/13 they are not a terrible price. There will be a lot of pressure on Tottenham at home and we think a bad feeling towards their best player in Harry Kane.
It could be that Santo decides not to play Kane because of the pressures but if he does that he also robs Tottenham of one of their best players, so a lot of decisions have to be made.
The problem for Tottenham is all the noise coming off of the pitch and not on it and City have a better squad and come into this game much more relaxed. So we will back City to get the win
