Tottenham vs Aston Villa
England – Premier League
Date: Sunday, 3 October 2021
Kick-off at 14:00 UK/ 15:00 CET
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Spurs made a great start to their PL campaign, and then they unexpectedly went on a poor run – spoiling their chances of possessing a spot in the top-most tier.
However, the last match-day, they delivered a massive win in the Conference League. Though it might have come against a team from an inferior league, it was a confidence-boosting win. And the squad will definitely try to build on that.
Also, they are currently placed 11th in the table, and except for Chelsea, all ten teams above them are pitted against another top-ten squad, and there is a scope for massive changes in standings this weekend.
Should the Spurs secure a victory this Sunday, they would be able to significantly improve their position in the table.
It might not be easy though. They are pitted against Aston Villa, who just had registered a win at the Old Trafford, against Manchester United. Moreover, Villa also had recorded a win in the latest h2h meeting.
As such, the game is expected to be fiercely contested.
Still, owing to their superior talent, and their h2h domination over the years, expect Tottenham to script a hard-fought victory this Sunday.
Tottenham vs Aston Villa: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The latest encounter had ended in a 1-2 win for Aston.
- However, the Spurs had won 15 of the preceding 18 clashes.
- They had scored two or more goals in 12 of the past 14 meetings.
- At home, they had lost just thrice since 2000.
- Three of the preceding four overall encounters had goals from both teams.
Tottenham vs Aston Villa Prediction
Tottenham lost 3-1 on the road the last match-day, against Arsenal. In the meantime, Villa won 0-1 on the road against Manchester United.
However, the Spurs are high on confidence after their 5-1 win in the Conference League, and importantly, they are at home. Note that they had won 13 of their past 16 appearances here.
On the other hand, Aston had won just twice on the road this whole season, and all other away fixtures had ended in losses. On top of that, one of these two wins had come in the EFL Cup, against a team from the lower divisions.
As such, expect a win for Tottenham this weekend.
Still, their defense has not been top-notch in 2021-22, while Villa will be eager to build on their win against the Red Devils.
As such, the BTTS wager has the potential to bring good returns this Sunday
