Inter will look to keep pace with rivals AC Milan at the top of the Serie A table when they travel to Sampdoria on Wednesday (2:00pm kick-off, UK time).
Antonio Conte’s men are just one point behind leaders Milan and are enjoying an 11-game unbeaten run in Serie A. Sampdoria, meanwhile, are struggling for consistency and sit 11th in the table.

Sampdoria vs Inter build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:
Sampdoria spurned the chance to move into the top half of the table by going down 1-0 away at Roma on Sunday thanks to a second-half effort from Edin Dzeko. That just about sums up the 2020/21 season so far for Claudio Ranieri’s side, who have been unable to string a run of results together. Though 11th in the table, I Blucerchiati are closer to the relegation zone than the European places.
By contrast, Inter’s 6-2 thrashing of Crotone on Sunday was their eighth consecutive Serie A victory and an 11th unbeaten in the Italian top flight, a run which has moved them to within touching distance of their city rivals, AC Milan, at the summit of the table. The Nerazzurri have won the last six league meetings between these two, so the omens are good that their red-hot form will continue.
- Sampdoria (vs Roma): Audero; Yoshida, Tonelli, Colley, Augello; Candreva, Ekdal, Thorsby, Jankto; Verre; Quagliarella.
- Inter (vs Crotone): Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Hakimi, Barella, Brozovic, Vidal, Young; Lukaku, Martinez.
Keita Balde is still suspended for the hosts, who are also without Bartosz Bereszynski, Manolo Gabbiadini and Alex Ferrari.
Alexis Sanchez, Matias Vecino and Andrea Pinamonti are all sidelined for Inter.
Players to watch:
Sampdoria: There must be something in the water in Italy, because Father Time is fighting a losing battle against Serie A’s veteran strikers. Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic predictably steal all the headlines when it comes to the Italian top-flight’s lethal elders but credit must also be given to Fabio Quagliarella, whose career renaissance has continued this season with seven goals from 14 appearances, following on from totals of 12, 19, 26 and 11 across the previous four campaigns. Even more impressive is the fact that only one of his seven strikes this season has come from the penalty spot, proving that Quagliarella is simply rolling back the years rather than padding his stats with spot-kicks.
Inter: Conte’s side blew Crotone away with their attacking play during their 6-2 triumph on Sunday and once again, Romelu Lukaku was front and centre. The Belgian striker continued his wonderful link-up with strike partner Lautaro Martinez with the assist for the Argentine’s opener, then netted a goal of his just after the hour-mark to take his tally to 12 for the 2020/21 Serie A season so far, level with Ronaldo in the Capocannoniere standings. Lukaku scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win for Inter the last time they faced Sampdoria and his current form reads seven goals in eight games across all competitions.
