Roma vs Udinese
Italy Serie A,
Date: Thursday, 23 September 2021
Kick-off 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadio Olimpico.
Roma and Udinese will close the Serie A Matchday No 5 on Thursday evening when they come across each other at the Stadio Olimpico.
Both Roma and Udinese will be hoping to bounce back from recent defeats when they take on each other in the last fixture of the mid-week’s Serie A Matchday.
The Romans fell 3-2 away at struggling Hellas Verona, allowing them to snatch the first win of the season.
It was, at the same time, Roma’s maiden slip-up of the campaign, the one that followed three successive victories.
Roma were on their way to maintain the perfect record after the first half, but their game completely fell apart inside the opening 20 minutes of the second period.
Verona bagged three goals within 14 minutes to secure their inaugural victory of the campaign.
Udinese, on the other side, also suffered their first defeat of the season. It was actually a genuine disaster as the team led by Luca Gotti lost 0-4 at home to Napoli.
Gotti’s men thus shipped four goals in a single game after allowing no more than two goals in the opening three rounds (a run that included a 2-2 draw to Juventus on the opening day).
Udinese’s three-man back line is obviously vulnerable against stronger teams as they conceded two goals to Juventus and four to Napoli so far in the season.
Their clean-sheet victories came against the likes of Venezia and Spezia.
Roma vs Udinese Head-to-head
- Roma have been a much more successful side in the history of this matchup.
- The Romans won 32, drew 10, and lost 16 of 52 meetings with Udinese.
- Roma picked up home and away wins over Udinese in the previous term of the Serie A without conceding a single goal in the process.
- None of the last seven head to head games between these two sides saw goals scored at both ends.
Roma vs Udinese Prediction
Roma have been scoring goals for fun under Jose Mourinho so far this season. They’ve bagged at least two goals in each of seven matches in all competitions and we have reasons to expect such a nice attacking form to be continued on Thursday against Udinese.
The visitors have just allowed four goals at home to Napoli. Roma to win in a high-scoring contest is the way to go here.
