Real Madrid vs Villarreal
Spain – La Liga
Date: Saturday, 25 September 2021
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
While Villarreal have been searching for their first win of the season, the Los Blancos have made a glorious start to their campaign. The latter are unbeaten so far, and also have scored the most number of goals in the competition. Surely expect them to post another win this Saturday at the Bernabeu.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men are placed second in the table at the moment. But they have a game in hand, and are trailing by just one point below toppers and arch-rivals Atleti.
They have scored five more goals than any other team in the La Liga, and they also have a 100% winning record barring a single draw.
They also have a great h2h record against this rival (as they do against almost any team in Spain), and particularly at their home, they have been on a roll lately.
In the meantime, Villarreal have failed time and time again to secure their first win of the season, and they really have been struggling with their defense on the road in the past several weeks.
As things stand, it’s expected that Real Madrid will post another routine win this weekend.
Real Madrid vs Villarreal: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The latest encounter had ended in a 2-1 win for Ancelotti’s men.
- They had recorded 15 of the past 18 overall wins.
- Nine of the former ten meetings had goals from both teams.
- Six of the past seven clashes had three or more goals.
- The guests have won just once at this stadium since 1998.
Real Madrid vs Villarreal Prediction
The Los Blancos recorded a 1-2 win on the road the last match-day, against Valencia. In the meantime, Villarreal were held to a goalless draw by Mallorca.
Going on, Ancelotti’s men have lost just once since January of 2020, and the defeat had come in the Champions League.
They have also been totally invincible at home in the past eight-month period, and had scored two or more goals in nine of their preceding twelve appearances here.
On the other hand, their counterparts are on a 15-fixture winless run, and they had let in two or more goals in nine of their past thirteen games. They are also on a winless run on the road since May, and have an inferior h2h record against this rival over the years.
As such, expect a win for Real Madrid this Saturday.
However, Villarreal are still the reigning Europa League champions, and they are desperate to get out of their slump.
Moreover, they have scored consistently in h2h clashes in spite of negative results. And finally, the 13-time European champions are yet to have a stable defense.
Likely, count on guests Villarreal to find the back of the net at least once.
