PSG vs Strasbourg
France – Ligue 1
Date: Saturday, 14 August 2021
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Parc des Princes.
We all are waiting for it. No point in denying now. To see the dream line-up the Parisians have assembled. PSG will be dead-determined to win their first game after Leo Messi joined them, and with the opponents being the lowly Strasbourg – expect a huge win for them.
It’s doubtful if Messi would get minutes this Saturday, but for sure he’s going to be presented before the home crowd, and if possible he might be introduced towards the end of the game
Mauricio Pochettino’s men have some scores to settle though. They failed to win the league the last season, and opened their new campaign with a defeat in the Super Cup. And on both occasions, Lille were the team that trumped them.
The Parisians have some huge tasks before them. They should win every trophy in France – that’s an obvious objective, and should go after the Champions League as well. The gaffer has to find an ideal line-up before that and induce some undeniable chemistry.
And Strasbourg seem to be the first of many teams, that this gargantuan squad might put their sword through.
Last season – Strasbourg had to settle for a 15th place finish, and they had won just 11 of their total 38 games. Note that they had also conceded 58 goals through this stretch.
And importantly, they also have a poor h2h record over the years.
By the looks of things, expect a win for PSG this weekend.
PSG vs Strasbourg: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The latest encounter had ended in a 1-4 win for Pochettino’s men.
- They had won six of the last eight meetings.
- The hosts had kept clean sheets in three of the preceding four match-ups.
- Since 1993, the home team has a 100% winning record, barring a single draw.
PSG vs Strasbourg Prediction
The Parisians recorded a 1-2 win on the road the last match-day, against Troyes. In the meantime, Strasbourg lost 0-2 at home against Angers.
Going on, Poch’s men have a fear-inducing h2h record against this rival, and especially so at this venue. They are also determined for a win, and with the new additions to their squad, the team seems virtually unbeatable – at least on paper.
On the other hand, their counterparts were winless in 11 of their former 14 overall fixtures, and they have won just five times on the road in the whole of 2021 till now.
Taking into account these observations, expect a huge win for PSG
