PSG vs Montpellier
France Ligue 1,
Date: Saturday, 25 September 2021
Kick-off 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Parc Des Princes.
The two most efficient Ligue 1 outfits are about to lock horns as PSG host Montpellier on Saturday evening at the Parc Des Princes.
PSG found the late stoppage-time winner in the second successive game, this time beating Metz 1-2 on the road on Wednesday evening.
They have thus preserved the perfect record after seven rounds and are already seven points clear atop the Ligue 1 standings this early in the season.
This summer’s acquisition Achraf Hakimi was the Parisians’ hero this time around. He opened the scoring five minutes into the clash in Metz and he also found the 94th-minute winner (on Neymar’s delivery).
However, Mauricio Pochettino certainly does have things to think about ahead of the Champions League challenges because his team’s back line does not look too solid at the moment.
PSG dropped two points at Club Brugge in the Champions League opener and they are looking ahead of a very tough fixture against Manchester City on Tuesday evening in the continental competition.
While we all expected PSG to have the strongest attack in the league, not many experts believed that Montpellier could score 15 goals in the opening 7 rounds of the season.
La Paillade play very attractive football under the new manager Olivier Dall’Oglio. They will travel to the capital off the back of a 3-3 home draw to Bordeaux.
Striker Valere Germain bagged a brace on the occasion. The former Monaco forward now has three goals in three appearances for the new club and he will be a big threat to PSG’s goal on Saturday.
PSG vs Montpellier Head-to-head
These two outfits met each other in the French Cup semifinal last season. PSG advanced to the final but only on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the regular time (in May this year).
PSG put seven goals past Montpellier in two easy home and away wins when the two clubs battled it out in the previous term of the Ligue 1.
PSG have scored at least three goals in four of the last five clashes against Montpellier.
We’ve seen four or more goals in all of the last eight head to head encounters between these two outfits.
PSG vs Montpellier Prediction
This game definitely has goals in it. After all, we have the match between the two teams that top the competition’s goal-scoring charts after seven rounds with 2’0 and 15 goals scored respectively.
Each of the last eight head to head games also produced at least four goals. The Over 3.5 goals FT is a well-worth backing bet at the 1.80 odds.
