Norwich City vs Watford
English Premier League
Date: Saturday, 18 September 2021
Kick-off at 12:30 UK/ 13:30 CET
Venue: Molineux Stadium (Wolverhampton).
Norwich welcome fellow promoted Watford on Saturday in a must win match after making their worst start to a league season.
The Canaries lost all of their four matches so far and started matchday 5 of the 2021/22 season from the foot of the table.
The fixture draw has not been kind to them as they started off against Manchester City and Liverpool and were heavily beaten in those matches and there is no surprise in this.
However, they did display good fighting spirit in narrow defeats to Leicester City and Arsenal. This is something Daniel Farke can use to motivate the troops ahead of the match against a promoted team.
Watford were beaten 0-2 by Wolves on the weekend and they have now lost three on the bounce since starting with a 3-2 win against Aston Villa on matchday 1. They haven’t scored since putting 3 against Villa and head-coach Xisco has plenty of holes to fix after losing a number of senior players in the summer.
The Hornets are traditionally poor in their travels, highlighted by the humble 34% win ratio away from home in the Championship last season.
Norwich City vs Watford Head-to-head
- There are no draws in the last 8 league meetings between the teams. Watford won 5 and Norwich won 3.
- Last season, both head-to-head games in the Championship were won by Watford with the same 1-0 margin.
- Five of their last 7 clashes saw under 2.5 goals.
- At home, Norwich lost the last two games to the Hornets without scoring. However, the teams share 3 wins each from the last 6 duels here.
Norwich City vs Watford Prediction
There are plenty of reasons for both teams to win here and therefore we expect an open game at Carrow Road on Saturday.
Defense is an area of concern for Daniel Farke, they gave as many as 30 chances to Arsenal despite conceding just once. Meantime, scoring goals is the weakness of Watford and they created fewer chances in each of the last three defeats.
Both have a chance to open up on Saturday and we could definitely bet on over 2.5 goals as the top bet for this match.
