Napoli vs Juventus
Italy – Serie A
Date: Saturday, 11 September 2021
Kick-off at 17:00 UK/ 18:00 CET
Venue: Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Napoli are on a great run, and have made a fantastic start to their campaign. However, rather uncharacteristically, Juventus are still searching for their first win this league season. Contrary to usual, Napoli might have the upper hand this weekend, at their home.
They are on a 100% winning record in the 2021-22 edition of the Serie A, and they are placed fifth in the table at the moment, with a combined scorecard of 4-1.
Since the first-placed Lazio are pitted against the fourth-placed AC Milan, this is an opportunity for Napoli to climb higher in the table.
They had finished fifth in the table the last season, narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot. They are determined to not let that happen this time around.
However, it deserves to be mentioned that they had scored an unbelievable 86 goals from their 38 fixtures.
In the meantime, Juve are still coming to terms with the departure of talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, and they honestly have not made a suitable replacement.
The team is clearly going through a rebuilding phase, and on top of that, they even were placed fourth in the table the last season – after lifting the title in the nine seasons prior to that.
This just might be the window of opportunity for Napoli to trump the Old Lady.
Napoli vs Juventus: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The previous four overall wins were evenly split into two each for either squad.
- The latest encounter had ended in a 2-1 win for Juve.
- At this venue, the hosts are unbeaten in the past three appearances.
- Since 2000, the Old Lady have won just thrice at this stadium.
Napoli vs Juventus Prediction
Napoli had recorded a 1-2 win on the road the last match-day, against Genoa. In the meantime, Juve lost 0-1 at home against the recently-promoted Empoli.
Going on, Napoli were unbeaten in 24 of their previous 26 overall games, and they had also won 11 of their past 13 fixtures.
On the other hand, their counterparts were winless in three of their past four overall match-ups, and they had remained so in eight of their last fourteen road trips.
Taking into account these observations, expect the in-form Napoli to register a hard-fought win this Saturday.
However, Juve are still one of the best teams in the world, and they will be eager to get back on right track. Moreover, they are under the capable tutelage of Massimiliano Allegri as well. Surely expect them to find the back of the net at least once.
