English Premier League
Date: Saturday 8th May 2021
Kick off at 17:30 UK/ 18:30 CET
Venue: Etihad Stadium (Manchester).
There are so many stories to take from this game even before a ball is kicked, so let’s start. The first is that this match will feel like a dress rehearsal because these two teams will play in the Champions League final which of course will be an- All English affair.
For Manchester City if they win this game they will be confirmed champions of England. What a way for them to do it at home against such a quality side as Chelsea. It would also cap off a fantastic week given City are in the Champions League final- their first one, after beating French champions PSG 4-1 on aggregate.
City beat Crystal Palace last weekend 2-0 and have won 4 games from their last five and been in solid form. At home City have the best record in the Premier League winning 38 points from a possible 51. However they have lost 2 of their last 3 games at home.
Chelsea have made it to their 3rd Champions League final following previous finals in 2008 and 2012. They have won the competition once in 2012. Also new manager Thomas Tuchel made history as he will be in two finals in a row but managing two different sides as he made the 2020 final with PSG.
Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 4 games as they try to finish in the top four and have only lost 1 game in the league in over 3 months. Last weekend they beat Fulham 2-0 and they are in 4th with 61 points and 3 points ahead of 5th so it could be very close.
Away form has been good with no defeats in their last five and they have picked up 11 points from their last 15. In their last away game they were able to beat West Ham 1-0.

Manchester City vs Chelsea: Prediction
What makes this game so interesting is that both teams have something to play for. It is true that City could lose this game and it wouldn’t be the end of the world for them as they are so far clear in the lead. But manager Pep Guardiola will not want to give anything away to Chelsea.
Both teams will be thinking this is the club we will face in the Champions League final and they will want to give 100% in this game, and it should be very fascinating to watch.
Sometimes football games are likened to a game of chess and this one should underline that theory. We expect it to be close with chances for both sides.
