Lincoln City vs Liverpool FC: Match preview

Much of the talk coming into this game will be surrounding Thiago Alcantara, pictured above. The 29-year-old midfielder had an outstanding debut against Chelsea, albeit from the bench.

It is unlikely Klopp starts the Spanish international here though, instead opting to save his legs for the match against Arsenal at the weekend.

Two new signings almost certain to make their debuts are Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota. Tsimikas, a Greek international left-back, was signed from Olympiakos in the summer for around £11m when Liverpool. Liverpool moved to sign the 24-year-old when they were quoted over £20m for their primary target, Jamal Lewis at Norwich.

Jota was signed from Premier League Wolves at the weekend, but not soon enough to be involved against Chelsea. His registration is now complete though and looks certain to start here.

Many of the kids who shone in the Cups last season for Liverpool will likely feature too. The likes of Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Sepp van den Berg and Neco Williams will all have a chance to show Klopp how close they are to the first team.

Billy Koumetio stood out for Liverpool in pre-season. He’s pretty hard to miss given that his size and frame makes him look huge even next to Virgil van Dijk. The 17-year-old center-back is tipped to have a bright future at Liverpool
