Granada vs Barcelona
Spain – Copa del Rey
Date: Wednesday, 3 February 2021
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes.
The Catalans are slowly returning to their dominating ways in the Spanish league. They had begun their season on a disastrous note, but as of now they are placed second in the table, even above arch-rivals, Real Madrid.
Antoine Griezmann is back to his menacing best, and so is Messi and Samuel Umtiti. The team will be adamant to cash in on this form and momentum, and get to the semis of the Copa.
With both Real and Atleti being eliminated early, this is the easiest path for Ronald Koeman’s men to land a major trophy this season. Moreover, with the UCL and La Liga seemingly out of sights, the players are under pressure to deliver.
Meanwhile, the Nasrids have been an inconsistent bunch in the past several game weeks, and have been weak at the back as well.
Moreover, they are not traditionally considered to be a major team in the Spanish top flight, and most importantly, they have a worrying h2h record against this opponent over the years.
As such, expect Barcelona to secure an entry into the semis of the Copa this Wednesday.
Granada vs Barcelona: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The latest meeting between the two had taken place just three weeks back, and then the Catalans had won 0-4.
- They had also won 13 of the former 15 match-ups.
- They had scored three or more goals in six of the previous nine encounters.
- Since 2015, the guests have scored three or more goals in all but one meeting at this stadium.
Granada vs Barcelona Prediction
Koeman’s men have been on an unbeaten run of 14 match-ups, and the only glitch during this stretch was the defeat in extra time against Bilbao. They have also scored two or more goals in the preceding eight fixtures, and in ten of the former thirteen games.
On the other hand, their counterparts were winless in six of their last nine overall games, and at home they have won just four times since October of 2020.
In addition, the Catalans had just defeated them 0-4 less than a month back, and over the years they have also had a terrific h2h record against them over the years.
Taking into account these observations, expect Barcelona to deliver a compelling win this Wednesday.
