Erling Haaland sparkled in Borussia Dortmund’s season-opener. The Norwegian superstar bagged a brace and set up another three goals in the 5-2 thumping over Eintracht Frankfurt seven days ago.
Borussia Dortmund thus put down a marker in their season opener, producing a five-star showing just a day after Bayern Munich slipped up away at Borussia M’gladbach.
Speaking of the Bavarians, they did manage to see off Dortmund in the mid-week’s German Super Cup tie.
Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, and company had too much for Marco Rose’s troops on Tuesday evening. Beginner’s errors from Manuel Akanji and Felix Passlack did not help either.
Nevertheless, Rose has plenty of reasons to be highly optimistic about this Bundesliga season despite BVB lost Jadon Sancho in the summer’s transfer window.
The opening performance makes them heavy favorites against any other team in this division (except Bayern Munich) and the second round tie against Freiburg will be no exception.
Speaking of Freiburg, they did put up a strong display in their inaugural game of the season but had to settle for a goalless draw at Arminia Bielefeld.
Christian Streich’s men missed a host of terrific chances last weekend. Striker Lucas Holer led the way in the failures.

Freiburg vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction
Although it ended in a goalless draw, Freiburg’s opening fixture against Bielefeld was a very eventful contest packed with goal-scoring chances at both ends.
Since Streich’s troops are now set to play free-scoring Borussia Dortmund, we can’t expect anything else but goals on Saturday afternoon at Dreisamstadion.
There were as many as eleven goals scored in two matches Borussia Dortmund played within the last seven days. The Over 2.5 goals FT pick is a massive banker at the odds of 1.50 here.
