Cornella vs Barcelona
Copa Del Rey
Date: Thursday, 21 January 2021
Kick-Off at 20.00 UK
Venue: Nuevo Municipal de Cornella.
Things are once again getting out of control for Ronald Koeman and Barcelona. Blaugrana have failed to claim the first trophy this season after losing the Spanish Super Cup finals in dramatic fashion to Athletic Bilbao. Even Leo Messi lost his nerves and earned first red card since he arrived at Camp Nou. Next match for Barca is scheduled for Thursday night.
They will face Segunda B squad Cornella in Copa Del Rey and anything but a convincing win, even with reserve roster, would be labelled as another failure. As expected, the odds on away win are at low 1.22 rate. Can hosts hope for another miracle? They have eliminated Atletico Madrid in the previous round.
Cornella vs Barcelona Head-to-head
There were no previous head to head encounters, at least not in official matches between Cornella and Barcelona.
Cornella vs Barcelona Prediction
As mentioned above, hosts are currently playing in tier three Spanish division called Segunda B. That didn’t stop them from beating Diego Simeone’s Atleti at this ground 1-0. That was arguably the biggest win achieved in club’s history. The only goal was scored by Adrian Jimenez in very early stage of the match. Two follow up duels against Gimnastic Tarragona and Olot (both on the road) ended without winner 2-2 FT.
Barcelona have finally fixed their form in La Liga, managing to secure six victories in the last eight appearances.
The gap between them and Atletico Madrid is still big though, so many dare to say Barca’s chances for the title are minimal. On top of that, they just wasted great opportunity to win the trophy against Bilbao.
Koeman is surely going to use mixed up lineup for this game and preserve fitness for Sunday’s clash against Athletic in La Liga. We wouldn’t be surprised to see Cornella score one goal though.
