Watch Chelsea vs Liverpool Live Streaming Match #CHELIV

Chelsea opened their Premier League account last weekend with a win away at Brighton. Goals from Jorginho, Reece James, and Kurt Zouma secure the three points for The Pensioners in that 3-1 victory.

Frank Lampard will want his side to continue the good form, though they’ll face a tough test against Liverpool. He’s also without a number of players through injury or fitness concerns including Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech. Lampard also confirmed new signings Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva won’t feature, though Timo Werner is fit to play after recovering from a dead leg on his debut.

Liverpool also won their first game of the season, though newly-promoited Leeds United will have given The Reds a fright at Anfield. Leeds came back from behind three times in the game that was ultimately settled when an 88th-minute Mo Salah penalty made it 4-3.

Jurgen Klopp’s side looked shaky at the back though Salah was in great form, netting a hattrick and ultimately ensuring his team outscored the opposition. Liverpool this week have also secured the services of former Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, though it remains to be seen if he will make his Liverpool debut at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea v Liverpool pre-match team news, build-up & previous line-ups:

After finishing fourth last season, Frank Lampard has massively strengthened his first-team squad with the arrivals of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva. The Blues ran out 3-1 winners over Brighton in their Premier League opener on Monday and could make a real statement with a victory over Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Liverpool, meanwhile, started their season with a 4-3 win over newly-promoted Leeds United, although defensive lapses meant that it was anything but comfortable for the Reds in their first game as defending champions for 30 years. However, three points against Chelsea would show everybody that Klopp means business once again.

  • Chelsea (vs Brighton): Kepa; James, Christensen, Zouma, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho; Havertz, Mount; Loftus-Cheek, Werner.
  • Liverpool (vs Leeds United): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane.
  • Chelsea (vs Brighton): Kepa; James, Christensen, Zouma, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho; Havertz, Mount; Loftus-Cheek, Werner.
  • Liverpool (vs Leeds United): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Chelsea remain without Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva and Christian Pulisic but Timo Werner is available for selection after suffering a dead leg in the win over Brighton.

“Timo Werner is fit,” Lampard said.

“Thiago has been training with us for the last three or four days. We are just working with him on his fitness at the moment, so Liverpool will come too soon for him.”

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the only absentee for Klopp, who otherwise has a strong squad to pick his starting XI from. New signing Thiago was reportedly registered in time to play and pictures have emerged that appear to confirm he has travelled with the squad.

Saturday signing Diogo Jota will play no part.

Players to watch:

Chelsea: Lampard may have brought in a raft of reinforcements during pre-season but it was an academy graduate who made the biggest difference to his side during their season opener against Brighton. Reece James scored a rocket to put the Blues 2-1 ahead in the 56th minute, shortly before providing the assist for Kurt Zouma to make it three. The 20-year-old was also effective when battling Brighton players for possession, winning a match-high four aerial duels and making four tackles. Another impressive performance for this would-be England international.

Liverpool: The Reds had to work incredibly hard for their three points against Leeds but one man who excelled once again was Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward netted a hat-trick, coolly dispatching two penalties in the process, while he constantly asked questions of Marcelo Bielsa’s defence with a match-high seven completed dribbles, nine shots on goal and four key passes. Marcos Alonso, you have been warned.

Scoreline prediction: Chelsea 2-2 Liverpool
