AC Milan vs Inter Milan
Italy Serie A
Date: Sunday, 21 February 2021
Kick-Off at 14.00 UK
Venue: Stadio San Siro, Milano.
Arguably the most important Derby della Madonnina of a decade is set to kick off on Sunday afternoon at Stadio San Siro. The top two Serie A teams take on each other in a derby that has not been as significant in the last 10 years.
Indeed, it’ s been ten years since the fierce Milano rivals battled it out while sitting first and second in the top-flight standings (on April 2nd, 2011). Back then Milan won the match at the point where they had a one-point cushion over Inter. I Rossoneri went on to win Scudetto that year.
We are in a kind of identical place ten years later. The roles are different, though, as Nerazzurri have a one-point advantage atop the ladder. Inter will head into the game in much higher spirits after putting three goals past Lazio in an important home victory seven days ago.
The win was paired with Milan’s shocking loss to the struggling Spezia side on the road, catapulting Antonio Conte’s to the very top of the Serie A standings.
AC Milan vs Inter Milan Head-to-head
Inter have been slightly more successful in the most recent head to head history against I Rossoneri.
I Nerazzurri won 26, drew 14, and lost 23 of the last 65 meetings with Milan.
This will be the third H2H clash between the bitter city enemies this season.
Milan took a 1-2 victory in the league clash played in mid-October last year, while Inter got the revenge by beating the arch rivals 2-1 in the Coppa Italia quarter-final played just less than a month ago.
The Over 2.5 goals FT & Both Teams To Score option landed in four of the last five derbies.
AC Milan vs Inter Milan Prediction
Inter had a challenging schedule lately but it has not prevented them from clinching positive results. They have played Juventus three times since January 17th (won 2-0 in the league, lost 1-2 on aggregate in Coppa Italia). They also played Fiorentina and Lazio in the last two Serie A outings.
Despite such a schedule, I Nerazzurri won four and drew one of the last five league fixtures, conceding no more than one goal in the process.
Milan did not have such tough opponents lately, but their schedule has also been congested. As a matter of fact, Stefano Pioli’s men will take on the bitter enemies just three days after playing Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Europa League.
The Rossoneri lost two of the last four league matches. The last weekend’s loss at Spezia was particularly painful. There are usually no favourites in Derby della Madonnina, but we have to back Inter to win at the 2.00 odds.
Nerazzurri will just come into the game in much higher spirits and we believe the confidence will be felt on the pitch. Braver punters can try with Inter to keep a clean sheet at the odds of 3.25.
