Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has stated that Tertiary Institutions would re-open starting from Monday, September 14, and that both primary and secondary schools are tentatively scheduled to re-open starting from September 21.
The Governor mentioned this during the briefing on the state’s COVID-19 status on Saturday, August 29. He further disclosed that the decision was based on indications that the pandemic has peaked in the state, following a steady decline in numbers of new covid-19 cases.
In his words, he said;
“This decision is not cast in stone and is subject to review of our ongoing modelling and what procedure comes out from the Ministry of Health”.
Governor Babajide sanwo-olu also mentioned that restaurant are now allowed to open for in-dining service though they must make sure spaces are only filled up to 50 percent capacity at all times.
Bans on event centers, clubs, bars and cinemas are not yet totally lifted as the Governor said their would be a review in September as to decide when to re-open them. Good move by the Lagos State Governor, do you think other states would follow this step too?
