Recall that the federal government odered the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to block all SIM cards that are not linked with National identification number (NIN), approving 173 centres and 30 states government institutions for the enrolment of every citizens.
However, the deu to the high number of people in enrolment centres and violation of Covid-19 protocols, the federal government has announced the extension of the deadline for registration of the National Identification Number by telcos service subscribers.
this announcement was made by President Mohammadu Buhari’s personal assistant on new media, Bashir Ahmad, according to his tweet;
“The FG has extended the deadline for the registration of NIN by telcos service subscribers.
“Three weeks extension for subscribers with NIN from 30th Dec., 2020 to 19th January 2021.
“Six weeks extension for subscribers without NIN from 30th Dec., 2020 to 9th Feb., 2021,”he tweeted.
