Pulisic, Ziyech, Havertz, Werner, Mendy – Chelsea injury news and return dates ahead of West Brom clash

Chelsea’s 2020-21 Premier League season got off the prefect start with a 3-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion thanks to goals from Jorginho, Reece James and Kurt Zouma.

But Frank Lampard & co. first home game of the new Premier League campaign was a tough one as they fell to a 2-0 loss against defending champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in past weekend.

The Blues have bounced back Sunday’s defeat against reigning champions Liverpool with 6-0 victory over Championship club Barnsley in midweek.

 

Goals from Abraham, Barkley, Giroud and Kai Havertz, who scored his first professional hat-trick helped Chelsea progressed to next round of the Carabao Cup competitions.

However, ahead of their trip West Bromwich Albion this weekend, Chelsea’s injury concerns are easing with both Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva in line to make their Premier League debuts for Frank Lampard’s team.

But off the pitch, Frank Lampard’s side have major players, with high profile like Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic.

 

The Blues attacking duo are progressing well following knee and hamstring injuries and are expected to be involved soon have rejoined training.

So what is the latest injury news ahead of the clash against West Bromwich Albion this weekend?

Timo Werner

After missed midweek clash with Barnsley, Werner is expected to return to Chelsea starting lineup against West Bromwich.

Werner, 24, hopeful of get his first scoresheet this weekend after failed to break the deadlock in the last couple of the game but made huge impression as he win two penalty against Brighton and Liverpool.

Eduardo Mendy

Edouard Mendy is expected to make his Chelsea’s debut against West Bromwich Albion after completing his move from Rennes yesterday.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper had his medical on Tuesday after making the £22million from Rennes.

Mendy is expected to replace under-fire Kepa Arrizabalaga, who made another costly error during defeat by Liverpool in past weekend.

Hakim Ziyech

The technically gifted Morocco winger was ruled out of the Liverpool game due to a knee injury he picked up in the pre-season game with Brighton.

Ziyech, 27, subsequently missed the league opener against the Seagulls but he rejoined training before Chelsea encounter with Barnsley in midweek.

However, Ziyech is still doubt for Blues clash against West Brom this weekend.

The game is expected to come too soon for winger but is progressing well following knee hamstring injuries problems.

Christian Pulisic

The 21-year-old was ruled out of the West Brom game due to hamstring injury he picked up in FA Cup final against Arsenal in August.

The American winger subsequently missed the league opener against the Seagulls, while also not in contention for midweek clash with Barnsley.

But he has been rejoined training and the game against West Brom is expected to come too soon for the 21-year-old playmaker.

He is progressing well following hamstring injuries problems and expected to be involved soon.

Havertz, Chilwell & Silva

Kai Havertz, who scored a hat-trick in that Carabao Cup win, is likely to stay at No10 and Ben Chilwell, who made his mark before the night was out, crossing for Olivier Giroud to score his first of the season will be in contention while Thiago Silva is in line to make his Premier League debuts for Frank Lampard’s team.
