Arsenal have completed the signing of Thomas Partey after activating the midfielder’s £52.5million release clause at Atletico Madrid.
The Gunners have been chasing the player for some time, and were first interested in the 27-year-old Ghana international a number of years ago.
However, Partey has been a key man for Diego Simeone at Atletico – only to grow frustrated with his low salary, when compared to his teammates in the Spanish capital.
That will not be an issue at the Emirates, where Partey has put pen to paper on a four-year deal worth £260,000-a-week, will bank a £2.5m signing-on fee, while his agent nets 10 per cent commission.
Meanwhile, Lucas Torreira has completed his season loan switch to Atletico Madrid with option of buy next summer.
