Man City vs Arsenal Postponed As Corona Virus Hits The Premier League
Manchester City’s English Premier League match against Arsenal scheduled for Wednesday night has been postponed as a precautionary measure due to the Corona Virus outbreak.
This comes due to a number of players and officials meeting Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis immediately after their Europa League clash at the Emirates on February 27.
Marinakis was on Tuesday confirmed to have contracted the Covid-19, forcing the Premier League to call off the fixture as a precautionary.
Government guidelines direct that anyone coming into close contact with someone with the virus should self-isolate at home for 14 days from the last time they had contact.
For this reason, Arsenal players will remain at their homes until the 14-day quarantine is complete, the same as the officials who came in contact with Mainakis.
In a statement, Arsenal moved to assure the fans and other stakeholders that their medical team ‘puts the risk of them developing Covid-19 at extremely low’.
Both clubs wished Marinakis a quick recovery, with Arsenal indicating they were hoping all players will return to training on Friday
