The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Edo Governorship election on Saturday, September 19, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, said his is confident of victory.
He said the after casting his vote at Ugboko ward 4, unit 26, Orhionmwon Local Government Council of the state at about 9: 25 am.
Ize-Iyamu joined the queue at his polling unit located at Iguododo Primary school at about 9:20am before casting his vote at about 9: 25am.
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a peaceful conduct of the electoral process.
He also commended INEC for adhering to the COVID-19 protocol.
“The process is good and going on smoothly; there is no thuggery and violence, the place is peaceful and calm.
“I am happy that INEC has a thermometer to check temperature and they also give out facemasks to our people.
“We encourage our people to come out in batches so they can strictly adhere to the Covid-19 protocols of social distances”.
He said he had not been able to get information about the conduct of the election across the state due to the poor network at his voting community

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki arrived his Emokpae Model Primary School in Benin City to cast his vote at exactly 10.20am.
Officials of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had waited endlessly for the governor’s arrival.
Hundreds of electorates as well as Journalists and security personnel had thronged to the venue as early as 7.30am waiting for the arrival of the governor .
The venue was tensed up just as scores of security personnel condoned off the venue.
The governor on arrival walked straight to the COVID-19 protocols’ stand where he washed his hands before proceeding to the election venue to cast his vote.
The purported siege laid to the Hotel Rivers State Governor, Nysom Wike lodged in Benin ahead of the election is still generating reactions.
Rivers Commissioner of Information and Communication, Pastor Poulinous Nsirm said in a statement that policemen led by DIG Leye Oyebanji have allegedly been very audible with threats that Wike should leave Edo state.
“It confers on him, the democratic authority to be in Edo State to spearhead the campaign and lend support to the Governorship candidate of his political party
He said that Rivers People will hold the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu personally responsible if anything happens to the life of the Governor.
