Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Chelsea’s other injury concerns ahead of Liverpool clash

Chelsea football club will play out their first home match of the Premier League season against Liverpool on Sunday evening.

And ahead of the match, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard already has a number of injury concerns with Hakim Ziyech among those confirmed absent.

The 27-year-old Morroco International will be out for a number of weeks after injuring his knee in a friendly match against Brighton some weeks ago.

There is no date yet for the pacy winger to return to Chelsea training but he is certainly out of the match against Liverpool on Sunday.

Thiago Silva, though, could make his debut against Jurgen Klopp’s men after returning to training.

Fellow new recruit Ben Chilwell is continuing to recover from his foot injury but the visit of Liverpool may come too soon to make his Chelsea debut.

However, Christian Pulisic is set to miss out after suffering a setback upon his return to training last week.

The 22-year-old American forward suffered a hamstring injury in the final of the FA Cup against Arsenal and he is yet to feature for the Blues since then.

Alongside him, Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour remains a long-term absentee after he had a knee surgery late last season.

Meanwhile, Timo Werner and Jorginho will be fit after picking up knocks against Brighton on Monday night.

Mateo Kovacic is also available after serving a suspension against Brighton.

That said, Chelsea defeated Brighton 3-1 at the Amex Stadium on Monday and would aim to make it two wins in two games against Liverpool on Sunday.
