The Blues picked up a much-needed victory this afternoon by narrowly beating Leeds at Stamford Bridge.

Potter’s side went into the weekend off the back of three consecutive defeats across all competitions, but they’ve now earned three vital points in the Premier League.

It was a similar tale of Chelsea being fairly wasteful in front of goal. However, they did break the deadlock in the 53rd minute.

Wesley Fofana, who returned to the starting line-up today, towered in his headed goal from a Chilwell corner.

Next, Potter’s men host Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night in the second leg of a Champions League last-16 tie.

Chelsea’s head coach was full of credit for Chilwell after his display this afternoon:

“Ben Chilwell has been working really hard and contributed in a good way in the first half in how he attacked, Potter told BBC Sport.

Potter’s decision to revert to a back three allowed Chilwell to slot in as the left wing-back, which is a position that suits his game.

The 26-year-old did provide the assist for the match-winning goal with his set-piece. Also, he looked one of his side’s most offensive threats.

In our view, Chelsea are a better side when they used a three-man defence with wing-backs.

Chilwell was allowed to play very high up the pitch on the left-hand side
