Graeme Souness has warned that Frank Lampard will have to start making some decisions on his midfielders this summer.
Jorginho was restored to the Chelsea starting line-up for the first time since the Premier League restarted for Saturday evening’s game against Sheffield United.
There had been speculation over the Italian’s future at the club, with the Blues having plenty of depth in midfield thanks to the likes of N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Souness said he expects Kai Havertz to join the Blues this summer and that some players will have to leave because of it.
Souness said: “He’s still searching for what he regards as his best mix in there.
“You’ve got Kante, Kovacic, Barkley then you’ve got Mount and Gilmour coming through.
You’ve got Ziyech coming in, who I’ve liked when I’ve seen him play.
“So I’d imagine he’s made up his mind on most of them.
“I think, come the end of the season, he’ll have some decisions to make on who stays and who goes.
“There’s no doubt about it, they’ve spent big money and I think they want to go again on this boy from Bayer Leverkusen, so they’ll want to get a few people out the door.
“It’ll be interesting to see who he’s willing to sacrifice, as they’ve got some players in midfield.”
