Frank Lampard Confirms Edouard Mendy Transfer Deal is Done As He Passes Chelsea Medical

The boss revealed that Edouard Mendy was currently undergoing a medical examination in anticipation of a switch from Rennes.

‘He’s having a medical as we speak,’ said Lampard at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon. ‘Subject to that being okay later on, he will become our player at that point.

‘As far as I’m aware, as long as he passes his tests before he travels, he will be tested with us on Thursday collectively as a team and if that is negative then he will be available to play

FRANK LAMPARD CONFIRMS NEW SIGNING

Lampard views the 28-year-old Senagalese international as providing additional competition between the posts to Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero, and detailed Petr Cech’s involvement in the imminent signing.

‘With Mendy coming in, it’s more competition so every reaction will have to be positive around that for Kepa and for Mendy to push to try and play in this team,’ he explained.

‘We know the standards that are required of a goalkepeer in this team and we have to push for that.

‘Petr was important in that because goalkeeper is a very particular position and he was the best in the world at that position for a long time so he’s certainly had a big say in this situation from my point of view. I lean heavily on him when it comes to the goalkeepers day-to-day and planning for the future so he was very influential.’

Lampard knows Havertz’s best position

Lampard included that he has his own thoughts that he has knows the best position for Kai Harvetz. Also further report:“I have my own ideas about him where I see him, but I think the main point at the minute for Kai is getting him fit,” Lampard explained.

“He is heavily – like the squad – in pre-season mode. Because of the situation, we aren’t in a position where we can bring in back-up players for big levels of money that we can wait and integrate them into the team.

“Kai has played in various positions through his career. He has played as a number eight and as a number 10 and he has played a lot on the right-hand side for Bayer Leverkusen last year.

“He has come here to be a huge talent for this team and we just need to get him fit and ready and then I think the position will be very clear
