Chelsea stars roundup: Here’s how the Blues’ stars fared on the final day of the international break

The International break came to an end on Wednesday, with teams in Europe taking part in the UEFA Nations League. Chelsea players were in action across various national teams, but how did the blues fare on the final day of the International break?

Starting of course from England where duo Mason Mount and Reece James both started for the Three Lions of England in their game against Denmark at Wembley. They both put in fantastic performances, especially James who was making his full debut. He had a fantastic game, and was denied twice by Schmeichel in Denmark goal, while also defending diligently. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to prevent the Three Lions – who had been reduced to ten men after Maguire’s first half dismissal – from losing 1-0 to the Danes. James got a red card after fulltime for dissent, as he was apparently unhappy with the referee.

Mount also had a great game before ending taken off, and went closest for the Three Lions, seeing his header from close range saved.

Meanwhile Andreas Christensen was a starter for this game and was solid until he was withdrawn at halftime after he had picked up a yellow card.

For Italy, midfielder Jorginho had his 25th cap and played the full 90mins for the Azzurri as they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Netherlands. He was instrumental in dictating the play at the middle of the park for the Italians. Teammate Emerson Palmieri did not play any part in this game.

Olivier Giroud came on as a substitute for France, as the Les Bleus beat Croatia 2-1. Giroud who had started the previous two games, came of the bench, while midfielder N’golo Kante didn’t play in this game.

Mateo Kovacic also came of the bench for Croatia, and went close to salvaging a draw but his long range effort was well saved by Hugo Lloris.

Meanwhile Thiago Silva made a return as captain of Brazil, as they beat Peru 4-2 in a CONMENBOL world cup qualifier. The match was played very early on Wednesday morning.

Ethan Ampadu played for wales, as they left it late to beat Bulgaria 1-0 away from home. Armando Broja, another youngster out on loan, featured for Albania as they drew goalless with Kazakhstan.

So, that’s it on the performances of Chelsea stars yesterday. The players will now return to Cobham, as the Blues get set to take on Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
