We have heard this before in recent weeks of course, but perhaps the significant difference this time, is the source reporting it.

Most sources have claimed that a deal is close for Chelsea to sign Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, pending finer details in the agreement.
However, French outlet L’Equipe had been pushing the narrative that Rennes were asking for either or both of Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud as part of the deal.
But over night, the publication have broke the news that an agreement has finally been reached for Mendy to join Chelsea, and it is a deal that will not include any Chelsea player going in the opposite direction.
Breaking | L'Équipe now anticipate that Chelsea & Rennes' agreement for Édouard Mendy will be concluded at around the €25m mark. They suggest that attempts to include Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori in the deal have not succeeded.
