Chelsea fans think Kepa Arrizabalaga has played his “last game” for Frank Lampard’s side after a disastrous performance against Liverpool.
The Spaniard’s position as No.1 was under threat before kick off against the Premier League champions, with the arrival of Ligue 1 shot-stopper Edouard Mendy “imminent”.
And the 25-year-old did himself no favours after a gaffe in the second half saw him gift Sadio Mane a second goal.
With 53 minutes on the clock and the Blues a goal down, substitute Fikayo Tomori passed the ball back to his goalkeeper – but the Reds forward also approached.
Pushing the ball to the left, Kepa put too much on it as the Senegalese international leapt at the chance and poked it into an empty net.
It saw the Spaniard go viral on Twitter, where the Blues faithful made their feelings about him very clear.
“Sell that f***ing garbage,” one supporter said.
“Kepa has to be sold or never played again.”
Another commented: “We want it now! Kepa needs to be sold.”
While a third simply added: “Well, Kepa just played his last game for Chelsea – good luck to him on the bench.”
While a sixth held nothing back, with: “I really hope this is Kepa’s last game for this club he has no business ever stepping on a pitch.”
Kepa arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2018 for £72m, a record fee for a goalkeeper but he only managed 10 clean sheets in 40 games last season.
Lampard expressed his confidence in the 25-year-old before the 2020/21 season started – but Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was not convinced by the Chelsea boss’ comments.
