Chelsea face further Delay for the Announcement of Kai Havertz transfer after Rangers clash

Chelsea transfer target Kai Havertz featured for Bayer Leverkusen in their Europa League last-16 second leg victory over Rangers on Thursday night that saw the Germans reach the quarter-finals

Chelsea may have to wait a little longer to seal the transfer of Kai Havertz after Bayer Leverkusen’s progress into the Europa League quarter-final.

The Blues have moved quickly in the transfer market, already sealing the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, while their business is unlikely to end there.

Havertz is next on their priority list after a sensational season for Leverkusen in which he registered 12 Bundesliga goals and six assists.

The Germany international is reportedly keen on the move, but the two clubs are yet to come to an agreement over a transfer fee, with Leverkusen standing firm in their £91million valuation of the player.

After a few weeks out due to the earlier conclusion of the Bundelsiga season, Havertz was in action again on Thursday evening as his team beat Rangers 1-0 in the second leg of their last-16 Europa League tie.

While the 21-year-old did not add to his goals tally, he was instrumental once again in everything that the Germans as with Moussa Diaby netting the only goal

Leverkusen will now take on Serie A side Inter Milan in a one-legged quarter-final on Monday, with Havertz likely to feature.

It means Chelsea will have to wait if they are to seal a transfer for the highly-rated midfielder, who will stay with his team for the remainder of the Europa League campaign

Leverkusen will not have to travel far ahead of the quarter-final with the competition being played to its conclusion in Germany.

They will play Inter at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf, while all other last-eight ties will be played at other German stadiums.

Chelsea are speaking with Bayer Leverkusen to find an agreement, at the moment there is no agreement but the price they’re going to offer Bayer Leverkusen is around €80million.

“At the moment there is no agreement but also like the Sancho deal for the instalments and add-ons, they’re speaking.

“Bayer Leverkusen are also playing in Europe so they need time to finalise this agreement but I think it’s possible that the deal will be complete on next weeks because the player really wants to join Chelsea, he’s pushing to join Chelsea.

“He’s the main target for Chelsea this summer after Timo Werner.”
