Chelsea are set to announce the signing of Thiago Silva on Thursday.
The former PSG captain, who left the club as a free agent after the Champions League final, has agreed a one-year contract with the Blues, which includes the option of an extra year.
Chelsea are also expected to announce the signings of Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Malang Sarr in the coming days.
Frank Lampard reportedly wants to make Thiago Silva Chelsea’s new captain.
The 35-year-old, who has captained Brazil and PSG for much of the last decade, is set to be announced as a Blues player tomorrow.
Silva left PSG as a free agent after the Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich and has signed a one-year deal at Stamford Bridge, with the option of a one-year extension.
The Brazilian, who turns 36 next month, will bring some much-needed authority and experience to Chelsea’s leaky defence, and reports claim Lampard is also interested in his leadership skills.
According to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, Silva could replace Cesar Azpilicueta as club captain in a move which is unlikely to go down well with the Spanish full-back.
There have been suggestions that Azpilicueta, 30, could be phased out for 20-year-old Reece James next season.

That looks set to be the case after the 21-year-old Frenchman signed a five-year contract to join the Blues last night.
It is understood the centre-back, who is a free agent after being released by Nice, rejected offers from several clubs in Italy following positive talks with Lampard.
Chelsea are planning on loaning Sarr out, with numerous Bundesliga clubs thought to be interested.
