Having played the best part of his Chelsea career on loan since joining the London club, Chelsea are now set to let Michy Batshuayi leave the club as they prepare for a summer deal for Lyon’s Moussa Dembele.
A source at Stamford bridge explained that the board have decided to cut their loss and let Batshuayi who has scored 1 goal in 16 appearances this season, leave having failed to show consistency or hold down a starting berth at the club.
Former England international and current Chelsea Coach; Frank Lampard had hoped that the Belgian would thrive and flourish with competition from Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham, with Lampard himself previously preferring Batshuayi as a backup for Abraham, but the former Dortmund striker has continued to falter woefully.
Chelsea would now turn their attention to French striker Moussa Dembele whom they tried to sign in January but failed to convince his club to sell mid-season. It is expected that a $40million bid should be enough to convince Lyon to sell their prized attacker who has racked in 16goals in 27matches in the Ligue 1 this season.
