The stage is set and the Champions League is back but this year’s tournament comes with a lot of expectations. One club that will be gunning to impress is Chelsea as they spent over £250m on new Signings. The blues were placed in a quite easy group compared to others.
However, their biggest threat might come in the form of Sevilla. The blues will face Sevilla as their first group game on Tuesday.
However, one big miss for the clash will be Edouard Mendy, the Senegalese picked up an injury on international duty an is a big doubt for Tuesday’s encounter. And although ziyech made a short cameo, I expect him to start against the Europa league winners. Elsewhere, Thiago Silva missed the game against the Saints due to fatigue and is likely to make his return to the eleven for this clash. Apart from that, the attack-line looks rather complete at this point.
Expected lineup….
Defence: With Mendy out and kepa’s horribe display against Southampton, Lampard is expected to pick Caballero in goal. In front of him, expect Thiago Silva to return to the eleven, alongside Kurt Zouma. Reece James could start as the full-back on the right flank, with Ben Chilwell continuing his excellent start to life as a Chelsea player over on the left.
Midfield: In Midfield, we could see kante partnered up with kovacic while Kai havertz is expected to continue in in the attacking Midfield role.
Attack: Chelsea’s summer purchases were mostly aimed at strengthening the attack, and this could be the first time that their four best attacking options start a game together. Timo Werner is likely to lead the line operating in the number nine role, especially after the two goals he scored against the Saints. Christian Pulisic is set to keep his place on the left flank, with Moroccan trickster Hakim Ziyech starting over on the other side.
Do you think this Lineup can beat Sevilla? And who do you think should be dropped?
