Chelsea target Kai Havertz played for his team Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League last night, as expected.
The deal is very close to being completed, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. But Chelsea will probably have to wait until Bayer are either knocked out of the Europa League, or they win it!
Voëller (Bayer Leverkusen director) to Gazzetta: “Havertz? We know that Chelsea are strongly interested in him… but we’ll not sell any player before the end of the Europa League.
If Chelsea want to sign Kai, they must pay what we ask. No lower price because of Covid”. 🔵 #CFC— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 8, 2020
This is because it would appear that part of the agreement of the deal is to allow Havertz to finish the season at his club in it’s entirety, which includes Europe.
Romano believes that the two clubs will confirm an agreement on an €80m (£72.2m) fee for Havertz to finally join Chelsea.
The German international has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea, as Romano reported yesterday. So it is just the finer details to be signed off, and the wait for Bayer’s participation in the Europa League to finish.
Chelsea are on the verge of confirming a huge marquee signing!
