Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham says he is hoping that his ankle injury is not serious after he limped off in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal last night:
The 22-year-old was not replaced after clashing with the advertising hoardings and played the full 90 minutes, but it appears that the issue could keep him out for a while based on Frank Lampard’s comments after the game:
“I hope he’s not (out for several weeks), but then if he is then yes, we do have the players.”
Abraham has been a key player for the Blues, having bagged himself 15 goals in 31 appearances this season, but the impending departure of Olivier Giroud means the London club are very light in terms of options up front.
Lampard revealed after the Gunners game that Chelsea are looking to sign another striker before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. He has hinted that they are interested in Edinson Cavani but Atletico Madrid are the favourites to sign the Uruguayan. The Blues may well have to look at other options.
