FIFA 21: Chelsea Timo Werner Make The Top 10 fastest Players in FIFA 2021

The release of FIFA 21 is just under a month away and to build anticipation as usual, EA Sports have announced the top 100 players for the latest edition of the game.

There were no real surprises at the top of the list with Lionel Messi coming out on top ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski in third.

At the same time, EA have released the top 10 players in each position, breaking them down to full-backs, centre-backs, goalkeepers, central midfielders, wingers and strikers. But another thing that has been the topic of conversation is the pace of certain stars.

Romelu Lukaku wasn’t happy with his own pace, taking to the comments section of an Instagram post to voice his discontent while fans were bemused by Jadon Sancho’s pace rating of 83.

But who, of the players announced so far, breaks into the top 10 when it comes to the fastest stars? We’ve taken a look at the speed demons.

10. Timo Werner

Club: Chelsea
Pace: 91

On top of his finishing, Chelsea’s newest signing likes to hurt opposition defences with his pace, backing himself to beat most in a foot race both on and off the ball. That has been shown in his FIFA 21 pace of 91, although fans of FIFA 20 will not it has decreased by one, perhaps due to an overhaul of the ratings system. But still, beware Premier League defenders.

9. Neymar

Club: Paris Saint-Germain
Pace: 91

The Paris Saint-Germain winger went slightly under the radar last season, which is a bizarre thing to say about Neymar. But his contributions to their treble-winning campaign, not to mention the dribbling ability he boasts, has seen the Brazilian keep his pace of 91 from FIFA 20 despite dropping in overall.

8. Marcus Rashford

Pace: 91

Another player to see his pace decrease from FIFA 20 but still making the top 10 so far is Marcus Rashford. Then a striker, Rashford has now been shifted to a left-midfielder having seen his role change under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season, and upgraded from 83 to 85 overall.

7. Kyle Walker

Club: Manchester City
Pace: 92

The fastest defender in the game so far, Kyle Walker saw his overall increase from 84 to 85 for FIFA 21, pushing him just into the top 100. But the Englishman has also seen an upgrade to his pace, moving up to 92 (from 91), thanks to his role as an attacking full-back for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side.

6. Raheem Sterling

Pace: 93

Often joining Walker on those attacks down the right flank is Raheem Sterling and when you put the pair’s pace to together, it’s quite frightening. Sterling, whose speed is just one of many vital assets, has maintained his pace from FIFA 20 sticking with 93, which will combine well with his 90 dribbling.

5. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Club: Arsenal
Pace: 93

There was a time when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was tied for the fastest player on FIFA. But while age has had very little affect on his speed in real life, it appears to be making its mark in the virtual world. Aubameyang has dropped from 94 to 93 in pace but that’s still enough for place in the top five, for now.

4. Mohamed Salah

Club: Liverpool
Pace: 93

En route to their Premier League title last season, Liverpool seriously hurt opponents with their pace on the break, with Mohamed Salah key to that on the right wing. As a result, the Egyptian King has kept his race of 93 from FIFA 20 and will undoubtedly be a pain down the virtual flanks over the next year.

3. Leroy Sane

Club: Bayern Munich
Pace: 93

Perhaps due to the fact he did not play too much last season, thanks to injury, Leroy Sane has seen his pace from by two from FIFA 20, moving from 95 to 93. But Bayern Munich’s new signing is still one of the fastest players in the game so far, with only two ahead of him as things stand.

2. Sadio Mane

Club: Liverpool
Pace: 94

Sitting slightly faster than his Liverpool team-mate, Sadio Mane was the Reds’ biggest threat going forward last season. But while his overall rating has been boosted by two, to 90, the Senegalese forward has kept his pace of 94 from FIFA 20. And as things stand there’s only one generational talent ahead of him.

1. Kylian Mbappe

Club: Paris Saint-Germain
Pace: 96

The man every fan would want their club to sign in real life and every game would want on Ultimate Team, Kylian Mbappe is the fastest player in FIFA 21 and it’s a title he is likely to hold even when the full roster is released. The Frenchman has pace of 96, which he puts to devastating use for PSG, keeping his level from FIFA 20, despite the overall rise. But they had to leave some room for boosts when he gets his inevitable special cards
